So there’s this second best comedian in Vancouver
And it’s me! As voted by the readers of The Georgia Straight, mind you. This post is going to sound so dated in a month, I swear.
Before I get into this award, I want to clear a couple things up:
These Best of Vancouver 2024 awards were awarded based on public vote and I absolutely did canvass online to win. As it turns out, I was almost the best!
I am very funny and don’t need a Best of Vancouver 2024 award for Best Comedian to prove that but wow it sure does help and feel good.
My friends, Katie-Ellen Humphries and Joanne Tsung, took first and third places respectively and they are literally some of the funniest people I know!
I’m going to type Best of Vancouver 2024 Best Comedian one more time in a pathetic SEO attempt.
Anyway! I’m really thrilled and honoured to win this and it’s inspired me to publicly (!) post some goals I have for the rest of 2024 and 2025:
Perform my comedy in other cities across Canada, Toronto and Halifax, especially. Toronto because it’s the biggest city and Halifax because every artists wants to do that hometown show. For mostly pure reasons but to also be like, “YEAH. I am talented.”
Improve my French. So I can perform in Montreal! Bonjour hi !
Produce a solo show that’s kind of like a fringe show but feels like a variety show.
Complete one of the many scripts I’ve been working on and either stage it or record it, or do a reading.
Also complete one of my short stories that have been languishing in my computer since 2020.
If they do a Season 3, I need to be on The Traitors Canada like I need air.
I am a business man as well as a talented performer so I’ll remind you that I said these are for 2024 AND 2025. So maybe when I make another post in a year, I’ll have completed some of these!
